Zweifarben-Fahnenbarsch

Widespread Indo-Pacific, most tropical Pacific locations and as far west as Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. Deep coastal to outer reef slopes. Usually in small groups with remote bommies in current-prone areas. Male is unusual in having two yellow-tipped filamented rays heading the dorsal fin that are used for display. Juveniles are bright pink with ochre on upper part of the body from tip of the snout to upper caudal peduncle. Length usually to 11 cm but to 13cm in subtropical zones.
