Monitoring and Control
To successfully operate recirculation systems, water quality parameters such as temperature, pH, oxygen and Redox must be understood, and maintained within acceptable limits for the cultured species. At a bare minimum, manual water tests should be undertaken using test kits. It is also wise to log these parameters to enable a better understanding of how the water parameters may change with a change in stocking density, feed rates etc. Whenever problems are encountered, these logs are always a useful point of call to understand if water quality issues are the underlying cause that needs to be addressed and corrected.
It is advisable to invest in equipment that can perform a continuous monitoring role, in order to ensure ongoing monitoring, and a better overview of how the water parameters may change over time. Taking this one step further, and having a control system that is also able to control equipment in order to maintain stable water parameters, as well as have alarm output capabilities is a very sensible investment against the duty of care we have to the animals in our care.
We can provide a range of equipment to suit all needs and budgets. Please contact us if you would like to discuss your requirements in more detail.
