Maldive Islands and Sri Lanka. Occurs on rubble slopes with strong currents , where usually seen in small aggregations feeding jut above the bottom on zooplankton. Females are plain, but males are readily identified when displaying with their tall dorsal fins , the soft part of which is pale blue  with an elongate black spot in its centre. Length 6cm.
