Job description

FULL-TIME (on-site) – Loures, Lisbon

Are you ready to dive into the world of aquatic care at TMC Lisbon? Aquarists are critical to the daily operations of our Livestock business.  We are looking for a passionate hobbyist, to work alongside a very busy team in our modern marine livestock holding facilities. An interest in fragging would be advantageous and general duties include assisting with tank maintenance, feeding, handling livestock, and dealing with customers in the Fish-House.  The role also involves unpacking and acclimating livestock shipments in our quarantine room.

Full-time working hours are 40 payable hours per week and due to the nature of dealing with Livestock flexibility in hours is essential and evening and weekend work is required on a rolling shift rota. The successful candidate should have an interest in aquatics or animal care, and be enthusiastic, hard-working with attention to detail, and eager to learn all aspects of marine livestock husbandry. Full training is provided

Position Details:

- Contracted working hours: 40 hours per week

- Flexibility in working hours required due to the nature of working with livestock

- Evening and weekend work required on a rolling shift rota

Qualifications and Attributes:

We're looking for someone who:

- Has a genuine interest in aquatics or animal care

- Demonstrates enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail

- Is eager to learn and grow in the field of marine livestock husbandry (full training provided)

- Exhibits excellent customer service skills and professionalism

- Is fluent in another European language (desirable but not essential)

 

Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include:

- Assisting with the care and acclimatisation of marine livestock

- Performing maintenance on fish house systems

- Ensuring the well-being and feeding of aquatic residents

- Maintaining clean tank conditions through regular cleaning

- Packing and preparing livestock for sales deliveries, while providing excellent customer service

- Upholding high standards of cleanliness in the fish house

- Participating in weekend feeding on a rotational basis

Key Skills Required:

- Initiative and problem-solving abilities

- Adaptability to changing situations

- Ability to thrive under deadlines and maintain livestock welfare standards

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Previous aquatic experience is advantageous but not required

- Flexibility and enthusiasm

Hours of Work:

Be prepared for early starts and late finishes, including weekend support on a rotational basis. Immediate start available for the right candidate.

Aquarists are critical to the daily operations of our Livestock business.  We are looking for a passionate hobbyist, to work alongside a very busy team in our modern marine livestock holding facilities. An interest in fragging would be advantageous and general duties include assisting with tank maintenance, feeding, handling livestock, and dealing with customers in the Fish-House.  The role also involves unpacking and acclimating livestock shipments in our quarantine room.

 

Full-time working hours are 42.5 hours per week and due to the nature of dealing with Livestock flexibility in hours is essential and evening and weekend work is required on a rolling shift rota. The successful candidate should have an interest in aquatics or animal care, and be enthusiastic, hard-working with attention to detail, and eager to learn all aspects of marine livestock husbandry. Full training is provided

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Livestock acclimation
  • Hands on maintenance of the fish-house systems
  • Feeding livestock and fish welfare
  • Tank cleaning
  • Coral fragging
  • Picking and packing of livestock in a timely manner, for sales deliveries and calling customers
  • Supporting calling customers
  • Fish-house housekeeping duties

Key skills required include:

  • Willingness to get involved, take ownership, and work on your own initiative is important.
  • Hands on approach to tasks and situations
  • Flexibility to adapt to sudden changes
  • Work to deadlines and support critical pinch points, so that our livestock welfare standards are maintained.
  • Positive ‘can do’ attitude and attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills
  • Aquatic experience and product knowledge (advantageous)
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm essential

Hours of Work:  Fish-house shifts will include early starts and late finishes including weekend support on a rota basis.  We can accommodate an immediate start.
