Coral SeaGreat Barrier Reef and Coral Sea. Appears to replace the closely related Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus in the rest of the West Pacific and records of latter south of PNG are probably based on C.lineatus. Occurs on deep slopes and along drop-offs at depths from 15m usually in about 30-50m depth. Males easily identified by their distinctive colouration. Females pink with many blue lines on their head and body, with the central ones breaking into spots on the body. Length to 11cm.
